Denver, CO

Denver was quite unexpected actually. I was there for work so I didn't see much of the town, but overall it was very nice -- I imagine I could even live there. The town is nicely pedestrian and there is even a tram and pedestrian only main street through the center. The area is quite flat for miles and miles but there are wonderful views of the Rockies in the distance. Overall, this is definitely a thumbs-up kind of place.

Quebec City

Old Quebec is wonderful!!! The Chateau is beautiful, the people are friendly and the food is great. I love the French spoken everywhere. When we arrived it had snowed -- we saw the snow, the rain and the beautiful sunshine. I recommend jogging the full length of the boardwalk along the St. Lawrence as early in the morning as possible -- it's beautiful!

Wine Country with best buds

We visited our best buds in glorious california this month and had so much fun. We spent a day in Alexander Valley which was absolutely wonderful. We also played a ridiculously fun and addictive game called Settlers of Catan. We love San Mateo, especially the San Mateo Coffee Shop within walking distance of their house. CA rocks. We want to move there.

MidSummer's Eve!

We went to the Adermark's house to celebrate with their family and best friends in the traditional Swedish way today. After dancing around the May Pole with the kids in the park, we had mackrel, hot and cold smoked salmon, 5 types of herring prepared by Louise, home-made breads and crisp breads, Swedish cheeses, Swedish "new potatoes" with dill, and strawberry cake. Of course we also had snaps of all flavors, each accompanied by a Swedish song around the table. It was truly an evening with the locals!

Gotenburg, Sweden

Joe and I are in Sweden! Gotenburg is fabulous -- it has a very small town feel. We've eaten great seafood with our friends here, we've gone to the City Museum and had delicious coffees. We're off to do more now!

San Francisco

I had to go to L.A. for work, so I took a quick a flight up to San Fran to visit Claudia and Sundance at their new San Mateo home, which is amazing!!! Everywhere we drove was just incredible views -- green hills, mountains with homes along the slopes in the distance, 100 foot cliffs along the beach, and redwoods that towered above any building in DC. We at fantastic food of course; my favs were Greens (fabulous sustainable and vegetarian food), and Betelnut (modern asian fusion yumminess).

Fantastic hotel

I'm staying at the Palazzo Hotel which is connected to the Venetian and it's great! All of the rooms have super fluffy beds, a sunken living room and office space, 3 plasma tvs (including in the bathroom) and a great bathroom that is huge. Excellent hotel - happy camper.
